Ian Sauer brings over thirty years of hospitality experience to his Vice President role at Summit Hospitality Group, Ltd a North Carolina based hospitality leader.  Since 1996, Ian has provided development & managerial leadership, support and supervision to the Summit Hospitality Group, Ltd. hotel property portfolio.  As Vice President, Ian helps set the company culture and monitors the financial performance of Summit’s Durham, Chapel Hill, Charlotte, Pinehurst, Winston-Salem and Wilmington, hotel properties, ensures that all properties maintain an operating standard meeting or exceeding the company’s policies and procedures, certifies compliance with all federal, state and local laws and regulations, and acts as liaison between the major hotel brands, corporate office, and the property managers.  Ian also handles and oversees the operational development and renovations for new builds and existing hotel and restaurants.  The company was recently awarded the prestigious Marriott Partnership Circle award.

Prior to joining Summit Hospitality Group, Ltd., Ian’s hospitality service record included practical operational experience with full-service, select-service, extended stay, and mid-scale hotels in urban and suburban primary and secondary markets including Marriott, Hilton, Hyatt, Choice, and historic hotel properties ranging in size from 60 to as large as 500 plus rooms. 

In addition to his dedication to hotel operations and hospitality, Ian actively participates in industry and community associations.  He has previously served as president of the Atlanta Hotel Council, board member of the Atlanta Convention and Visitors Bureau, board member of the Georgia World Congress Center, chairman of the Hospitality Committee of The Atlanta Committee for the Olympic Games (ACOG).  Locally in North Carolina, Ian has served as a sponsor host and hospitality chairman for New Hanover Coastal Celebrity Classic and the Willie Stargell Celebrity Classic, currently serving as Chairman of the Triangle Educational Advancement Foundation, former President and member of the board of directors of Wilmington’s Thalian Hall Center for the Performing Arts.  He is a past Chairman of the Board of the Greater Raleigh Convention and Visitors Bureau, North Carolina Restaurant and Lodging Association (NCRLA), Co-chairman of the Wake County Hospitality Alliance (WCHA), past Executive Board Member and treasurer of the Caring House in Durham, and the past president of RDU SKÅL International Association of Travel and Tourism Professionals. Ian is also a member of various committees at Hilton and Marriott.

Ian is married to Cyndi Muise Sauer, has 4 grown children and 4 grandkids. He loves to spend time with family, travel with Cyndi, enjoys golf and photography.
